01 / Times you can trust
Calculated times say so.
You choose how your times are worked out: one of fourteen published calculation methods
for your place, with the Asr convention you follow, or your mosque’s own timetable, which
you enter and which is labelled as yours.
Calculated times are labelled “not yet checked” until they have been compared with
published timetables, and until then they do not drive prayer reminders. Where the sun
does not rise or set in the usual way, the app uses the rule you choose and marks the times
it adjusted; where no time can be worked out, it shows nothing rather than a guess.
02 / Your calendar, your confirmation
The app never decides the date.
You choose the calendar authority you follow. Darb Ramadan shows the dates it expects from
that authority, labelled as expected, and you confirm the start and the end of the month
when the authority announces them.
03 / Know what you’re reading
Sources and review, made visible.
Practical guides about planning are written by Darb Ramadan. Religious explanations appear
only after review by a qualified reviewer; until then, the guide links to the sources
themselves and says that nothing has been reviewed yet.
The app does not count deeds, compare people or rank anyone’s worship. Records such as
fasting and night prayers are simple, private notes for you.
04 / Yours, on your phone
Private by default.
| Information | Where it is kept |
| Your plan, log and reflections | On your phone; in your Darb account too if you choose to back them up |
| Your location | On your phone only, rounded to about 1 km; never backed up |
| Meal photos | On your phone only, with location and camera details removed |
| Reflections | For you alone; never used for suggestions |
Signing in is optional. Darb Ramadan uses the same Darb account as Darb Umrah and Darb
Family, and each app keeps its own data. You can export your Ramadan data, delete a
season or delete all of it, without closing your Darb account.
This explains how the app is being built. It is not the app’s privacy notice, which will be
shown before the app collects anything.
05 / Where things stand
In development.
Not publicly available yet.
Darb Ramadan is being developed for iPhone, Android and the web, in English first. No
public release date has been announced.
The core is planned to be free. Optional help with estimates and planning is being
considered for later; it is not available, and it will never answer religious questions.
